Funny enough just last week the neighbour was trying to put screws in , she was using a large drill bit to make the holes but the screws weren’t going In correctly, so I used my own drill with smaller drill bits (with a reverse function) and they went in no problem.

Oh, and another thing... when drilling large holes hold the drill so that either your thumb is stopping the rotation or hold your forearm against the battery or furthest part from center of rotation. If the powerful tool hits an unknown screw or nail or just binds for some reason the tool will instantly try to rotate and in two instances I have seen create very bad sprained wrists. One caused enough damage that he now has diminished strength and pain when using his hand heavily. Holding the battery against the forearm applies the force to your arm rather than just the hand and using the thumb side of the hand for drilling (lefthanded) allows for just a sprained or hyperextended thumb if you cant line your arm up with the battery.

As a capable man which is what used to be normal but is now called being a "maker" as well as being employed in blue collar industries this was an underwhelming video and a disappointment. I had hoped to learn something. A word of caution Mr Savage reminded me of in regard to hand holding material and drilling: never hold your hand behind the hole even if you intend not to drill through!! Also a type of bit not mentioned here is particularly aggressive in sending it through which is a screw tip spade bit. Even at very low force where you assume it would drill slowly it does not. The screw point starts very quickly and it drills through at the speed of driving a screw which can mean less than a second through dimensional framing lumber! They are great though when you need to drill a hole at an odd angle where it is difficult to apply force sufficient to "push" a bit through.

I gotta say, I really like these types of videos both in content and style. Style meaning just a person in their shop talking to their phone and communicating some information without a bunch of stuff added in the edit. Too often I see people trying to make their videos look like they were produced for TV and I don't think that is a good thing. I think these types of videos should feel like a conversation between you and me like we were sitting across from each other and this video does that magnificently.

No mess and you can actually throw the wood slug in the trash can without busting out a broom. Now im no woodworker by any strech of the imagination. Im a new construction plumber so im making holes for gas lines to drilling holes for water lines to making holes for closet bends. Self feed bits and great until you run into a nail then your favorite drill becomes useless while my hole saw chews through nails like its food. Great video by the way.

Yes, auger bits are available for power tools. I have a couple for drilling clearance holes in studs. the screw point at the end makes them very aggressive by pulling itself into the wood, so you need a strong drill and a side handle is very useful. My 7/8 bit frequently stalls my Milwaukee 1/2" cordless drill and I have to go with my ancient 1/2" corded drill that has a side handle to keep it from twisting out of my hands.
